ASHTANGA

Taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, of Mysore, South India, Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient and unique system composed of a precisely designed sequence of postures synchronized with smooth, deep breathing (Ujjayi), gaze (dristi), and energy locks (bandhas).  The main focus of Ashtanga yoga is vinyasa, or linking breath and movement to create a dynamic sequence of asanas (postures). The practice is composed of three main elements, pranayama (breathing), bandhas (internal locks), and dristi (gaze points). These elements combine to create internal heat in the body, purging toxins, and focusing the mind. This powerful and rigorous practice purifies and realigns the body, cultivating a feeling of deep inner peace.

INTEGRAL YOGA

“The goal of Integral Yoga, and the birthright of every individual, is to realize the spiritual unity behind all the diversities in the entire creation and to live harmoniously as members of one universal family. This goal is achieved by maintaining our natural condition of a body of optimum health and strength, senses under total control, a mind well-disciplined, clear and calm, an intellect as sharp as a razor, a will as strong and pliable as steel, a heart full of unconditional love and compassion, an ego as pure as a crystal, and a life filled with Supreme Peace and Joy.” – HH Sri Swami Satchidananda

PRANA FLOW

“Prana Flow classes are breath inspired journeys that offer a complete spectrum (ha-tha) of yogic rhythms from meditative and rejuvenating to the challenging and empowering. The wave of a class is created through cycles of effective and creative sequences (vinyasas) linked together through the breathwave. The mandala (wholeness) of the body is cultivated through an integration of intelligently sequenced asanas where all of the major groups of asanas – standing poses, arm balances, twists, backbends, hip openers, forwards bends and inversions – are alchemically chosen for their relationship to a peak asana, state of transformation (rasa), or particular exploration. Chanting, visualization, chakras, marmas, and pranayama are also often integrated within asanas.

PRENATAL

Pregnancy Yoga Postures are taught to make pregnancy more comfortable while preparing the body for giving birth. The class includes work on breath, kegal exercises, and strengthening postures. Doing yoga during your pregnancy yoga helps keep you limber, tones your muscles, and improves your balance and circulation. It also helps you learn to breathe deeply and relax preparing you for the physical demands of labor, birth and motherhood.

RELAX DEEPLY

The art of relaxation.  Because of the hectic activity of our daily lives, we are often in our sympathetic “fight or flight” nervous systems.  Restorative yoga, with its emphasis on calming, relaxing, and renewing the body and mind, shifts us into our parasympathetic “rest and digest” nervous systems instead, allowing the body to re-balance.  Using props to support the body in reclined poses, we focus on long holds that open the body and deepen the breath.  A must for all yogis!

VINYASA FLOW

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic practice linking breath to movement. Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement”, Incorporating bandhas, dristi, and vinyasa krama, or logical progression of poses. Vinyasa flow is a challenging and invigorating practice which develops strength, stamina and flexibility. Vinyasa Flow will be a more challenging class with unique sequences.

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is the art of letting go. The focus of this class is to refine awareness and tune into intelligence of the body. Long holds of passive posture are used to stimulate and release the fascia or connective tissue allowing energy to flow more freely. This class is excellent preparation for sitting mediation. Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga

YIN/YANG

Most yoga practices that people are familiar with tend to be Yang in nature, that is they are active and engaging using heat and muscular energy to stretch and strengthen the body. In a Yin practice things are slow moving, the emphasis is placed on long holds to access the fascia (connective tissues) and the energy is receptive and contemplative. This class will encompass these two halves making a whole, along with pranayama and meditation.

YOGA BASICS

This class is for anyone new to yoga, or with a continuing yoga practice looking for more refinement in the poses. Students learn correct alignment and breathing in the yoga postures. This class is suitable for ALL levels, No experience required.

Pranayama techniques to de-stress and manage energy effectively are interwoven with practical teachings from the Yoga Sutras that help cultivate lasting inner peace.
