WELCOME TO OSY

The purpose of yoga is to unify the body, breath and mind, creating a balanced all-around development of human potential. Yoga is the idea that something changes, being uninterrupted attention, the unifying of two things and the movement of one point to a higher point. Yoga requires nothing more than the desire to feel better and think clearer in all areas of life.

Mary Bastien, RYT and Rain Magyar started Open Space Yoga November of 2004 on Maunakea Street in Hawaii’s historical Chinatown. They both saw Chinatown as not only a cultural melting pot, but as a developing neighborhood filling with new art galleries and boutiques. Open Space Yoga has now moved over 79 South Pau’ahi St on Fort Street Mall.   OSY also has a two other  locations near Diamond Head and Waikiki.  This studio has two rooms for practice, changing facility, yoga boutique and is walking distance to the beach.

Open Space Yoga’s mission is to create an atmosphere where each student finds their own way into yoga. We understand more and more that we can’t put yoga in a box and label it.  Yoga is not defined as one system or tradition but in fact has infinite ways of expression.
At Open Space we value and respect the varying forms and expressions of yoga. As we grow and evolve collectively, we understand that yoga is about the individual path which is what we are all here to ultimately support.
